Here's the latest Fresh Friday podcast, another side project. This one is about a new novelty phone service that we're thinking about launching. Call With Hart, the novelty phone service, allows regular people to glean advice from none other than Mike Hart IV (pictured above). I'd tell you more about it but I'd rather you just listen to the podcast.
This month's live tape recording of the Rock Garden Tour radio show from Latitude 44 featured some real wisdom. There was less talk and more witty banter on everything from learning to walk before running to Beresford, and confectionery, and pear trees, and bananas, and metaphors.
Catch this month's broadcast of the Rock Garden Tour on Saturday April 28 from 8 to 9 pm (Central) statewide on SDPB Radio. Thanks to Doctor Barkey and Kyle Jameson for helping us out with the above videos. And thanks to Abby Bischoff for capturing some photos of the event.
This is how our show looks in real life. If you're interested in catching a live tape recording, please join us at Latitude 44 on Monday April 23 from 7 to 9pm. I'd tell you more but I don't want to give away the ending.
The whole gang at Rock Garden Tour invites you to our next live tape recording of the show, from Latitude 44 live music bar on Monday - April 23 from 7pm to 9pm. Featuring musical guest Josh Rieck.
Tonight's Rock Garden Tour on SDPB Radio, tape recorded live at Latitude 44 in downtown Sioux Falls, SD, features new songs by the Rock Garden Tour Family Band and special musical guest Dan Mahar. The show also features News from Pierre, a Telestory by Steve Bormes, and free range rock and roll from Justin Townes Earle, Mirel Wagner and Daughn Gibson. Listen to SDPB Radio on Saturday night, March 31 from 8-9pm Central, or listen to the audio stream on the information county highway.
Some major things happening around the studio this week. Firstly, late Wednesday night while reworking a haiku about Woonsocket I learned (via late night television) that Ranae Holland, curious 'skeptic' from Animal Planet's hip new show Finding Bigfoot, grew up in Sioux Falls. The more we learn the less we know, right? And then, the following morning...
While reorganizing my cassettes I found a Milli Vanilli single that I'm almost positive I didn't buy in the first place. Not bad, but that's not all. Early this week the Rock Garden Tour Family band made their triumphant return to the studio.
A broadcast date for Rock Garden Tour's new season on SDPB Radio is set for Saturday March 31 at 7pm. The show will feature new tunes by the band, a song or two from lumberjack-guitar-man Dan Mahar, some poetry from Canada, a sonic art installation from the Telestory Booth, and of course, less talk and more witty banter about gardening from Oil Can and Flowerman. We're recording the show live at Latitude 44 in Sioux Falls so stop back next week for some video from the event. Okay, that's all we had for you.
I'd tell you all about Ipso Gallery's next big thing but I don't want to give it all away. What I can tell you is that we'd love to see you at the show. Ipso Gallery is an art gallery located at Fresh Produce Inc (they produce our radio show). Learn more about it over here.
This post doesn't have a lot to do with the Rock Garden Tour, but it is something that I produced, so indirectly it's related, more or less. It turns out that in addition to having a fascination with gardening, rock & roll, and the serial pruner of Hot Springs, SD, for as long as I can remember I've had a fascination with dinosaur kids, or rather kids who have a fascination with dinosaurs. I'm assuming the guy in the above photo is a former dino-kid, either that or a big foot enthusiast. I'd tell you what it all means exactly, but that's what the Fresh Friday podcast is for. Enjoy the sounds and keep it rural.
Technically it's still the off-season, but the days are getting longer. Oil Can and I (Flowerman) met in the big conference room in Dolton, SD to go over several documents and talk about some of Gurney's newer hybrids. Also we talked about the radio show that we produce, the Rock Garden Tour. We're getting the crew back together in March so this might be a good time to share our vision for the new Rock Garden Tour, as discussed in Dolton. It's going to sound a lot like the old one, only better. Below you'll find a video of our live recording at last year's South Dakota Festival of Books. This hints at what you can expect to see and hear from the Rock Garden Tour as soon as the ground thaws. Stay tuned for details and as always, stay rural.
